At Natzarim Yahshua Family Fellowship, we believe and affirm that the Moedim (Appointed Times) are still in effect and applicable to us today. The first moedim is the 7th day Sabbath. In Genesis 1 יהוה gives us the structure and definition of His day, (evening then morning), So the structure of the Sabbath follows suit: from sunset Friday to sunset Saturday. No ordinary work shall be done during this set-apart (holy) time. Nor shall we make anyone else work (buying or selling goods/services) on the Shabbat. This day is to be Set-Apart (holy) and should not look like any other day of the week. This is a special day and it is the only day that we are commanded to remember (the 10 commandments (phrases/words)) to keep set-apart.
1 Thus the heavens and the earth were completed, and all their array. 2 And in the seventh day Elohim completed His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had made. 3 And Elohim blessed the seventh day and set it apart, because on it He rested from all His work which Elohim in creating had made. Genesis 2: 1-3
1 And יהוה spoke to Mosheh, saying, 2 “Speak to the children of Yisra’ĕl, and say to them, ‘The appointed times of יהוה, which you are to proclaim as set-apart gatherings, My appointed times, are these: 3 ‘Six days work is done, but the seventh day is a Sabbath of rest, a set-apart gathering. You do no work, it is a Sabbath to יהוה in all your dwellings. Leviticus 23: 1-3
23 And it came to be that He went through the grainfields on the Sabbath. And as they went His taught ones began to pluck heads of grain, 24 and the Pharisees said to Him, “Look, why do they do what is not right on the Sabbath?” 25 And He said to them, “Have you never read what Dawiḏ did when he had need and was hungry, he and those with him? 26 How he went into the House of Elohim, while Eḇyathar was high priest, and ate the showbread, which is not right to eat, except for the priests, and he gave it also to those who were with him?27 And He said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath. 28 So the Son of Aḏam is also Master of the Sabbath.” Mark 2: 23-28
8 “Remember Yom Shabbat, to keep it holy. 9 You are to work six days, and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is a Shabbat to יהוה your God. In it you shall not do any work—not you, nor your son, your daughter, your male servant, your female servant, your cattle, nor the outsider that is within your gates. 11 For in six days יהוה made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day. Thus יהוה blessed Yom Shabbat, and made it holy. Exodus 20: 8-11
