Shana Tova! Happy New Year!
“Rishon Hu Lakhem L’khodshei Hashanah Yom Nisan Mevorakh.”
“The first month shall it be for you for the months of the year, the month of Nisan is blessed.”
On Rosh Chodesh (the first of the month) of Nisan/Abib/Aviv, beni Yisrael (the children of Israel) heard the nes (miracle) that they were going to be redeemed on the night of the 15th, later in that very month. We hold this evening to remember the miracles and the hesed (kindness) that Yahweh does for His nation.
“In Nisan we were redeemed in the past, and in Nisan we are destined to be redeemed again.” A midrashic quote (Exodus Rabbah 15:2) asserts that just as the Exodus from Egypt took place in Nisan so too would the ultimate messianic redemption.
We remember this night to put everyone in the correct spiritual mindset- to realize with all their might that this is the month of the Geulah (messianic redemption).
